TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Brandon Wagner homered and had two hits, driving in two, and Nick Nelson hurled seven scoreless innings as the Tampa Tarpons beat the St. Lucie Mets 4-1 on Wednesday.
St. Lucie had runners on first and second in the top of the ninth, but Anthony Dimino grounded out to end the game.
Nelson (2-2) allowed three hits while striking out three and walking two to pick up the win.
Tampa started the scoring in the second inning when Ryan Lidge hit a two-run home run.
After Tampa added two runs, the Mets cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Dash Winningham hit an RBI single, bringing home Michael Paez.
