Having received City Council approval, The Bainbridge Cos. is taking steps to develop a roughly 17-acre plot of land near the intersection of Kernan Boulevard and J. Turner Butler Boulevard into a 276-unit apartment complex.
Plans submitted to the city show 10 apartment buildings and a clubhouse to be built between Butler and Betty Holzendorf Drive, with a vehicle entrance on Kernan. The land, which is owned by the Skinner family, received rezoning approval in January.
The 11,400-square-foot apartment buildings will be 3-stories high, according to the plans. A four-acre recreation area and 461 parking spaces are also planned.
Bainbridge develops, owns and manages luxury multifamily apartment communities in the Eastern United States. Its portfolio includes several apartment complexes in Florida, mostly in or around Miami, Tampa and Orlando.
As a condition of the rezoning approval, a northbound left turn onto Kernan Boulevard and sidewalks along Kernan Boulevard and Betty Holzendorf Drive will have to be built.
Zev Cohen & Associates is the engineering firm on the project.
